Design Process

Initial visit
I meet with you in your home to discuss your preferences and budget and view the existing outdoor space. To be summarised in a written, detailed brief which will also have a breakdown of my fee stages.

Survey
All design works follow from this drawing, which maps out the garden.
On complex sites a land surveyor may need to be employed.

Outline design
This is the design concept drawing. It shows how I have interpreted the brief for your space. Your input is highly regarded as it means you can take ownership of your garden design.

Planting plans
A key part in the design process, the planting plan shows where plants are placed bearing in mind your preferences, aspect, soil, eventual size, colour and texture. These plans are used by the contractor or myself to determine where the plants are placed for planting.

Detailed plan
This is a finely detailed drawing with finer attention to detail. It is drawn to scale and shows the hard landscaping as well as structural planting positions.

Scope of works
These are technical drawings and written instructions stating materials and techniques for the landscaper to be able to construct the garden.

Perhaps you have a tired border, overgrown shrubs or an unloved corner of your garden. After listening to your preferences, measuring up, making a note of the aspect and testing your soil I can draw up a design, supply the plants at a competitive rate and plant your new border or alternatively offer a plan for you to plant up.
Quick Fix

This service may appeal to you if you would like to refresh your existing patio area to make it more welcoming and comfortable but you are not inclined to go to the expense of new hard landscaping.
I can style, source and supply artisan pots or contemporary containers, plants, garden furniture and lighting using a list of suppliers that I have built up over time.
